Introduction

Fisherman's Cioppino, chantrelle risotto, 3 layer chocolate truffle cake, greenhouse greens, tumalo farms classico

Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2003 Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Blancs

USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros

Still youthful but the light apple pear fruit is now starting to fade slightly into a deeper more integrated generic fruit/yeasty aroma/flavor. Light and crisp in the mouth with good harmony, elegance and class. Overall, nice wine, excellent seafood accompaniment, upside. Consistent notes from several bottles the last 6 months. Very good range.

  • 2006 DeLille Cellars Doyenne Aix

USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain

Very nice WA syrah/cab blend. Similar to August note. Better after 2 hours in the decanter. Polished.

  • 2003 Canalicchio Brunello di Montalcino

Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino

I didn't get a good read on this. Basic fruit, rounding but young, bright and lacking generosity. Good with food.

  • 2007 Saviah Cellars Une Vallee

USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley

This is very good now but it feels young, fresh and in need of a couple of years in the bottle. Fruit of chocolate and an attractive herbal cab franc quality even though it's only 7% of the blend. Medium in the mouth, light/no tannin, very under control and pleasant. It benefits from a good decant for current drinking.

  • 2004 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection

    USA, California, Napa Valley

One hour decant. Aroma of forest floor, tobacco with very light, background plummy blueberry. Intermittent alcohol was noticeable on the nose. Same flavors but finishes with clear soil/dust. The primary fruit has almost completely faded. In the mouth big, ripe, dense, and long finishing with light/medium fine tannin. Enjoyable but lacks fruit purity/complexity due to extreme ripeness. I would wait on this.
