Introduction

A nice unexpectedly simple dinner bidding farewell to
The old year and Kelvin leaving for the USA for 2 months.

Flight 1 - Light wines (2 Notes)

Flight 2 - A surprise intermission (1 Note)

  • 1995 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 91 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

Pungent smoky leatheriness but also floral! Sweet flowers. Very elegant and feminine. Smoky and meAty and v leathery but really v v balanced. 95 la chapelle totally different from what ever Shiraz ever tasted. Glorious wine.

Flight 3 - Two wines with similarities (2 Notes)

Flight 4 - A late white (1 Note)

  • 2002 Domaine Roger Belland Meursault 1er Cru Santenots 86 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

Rich wafer driven but tight vein of lemon mineralogy and vanilla chalkiness. Fresh and drinking young. Big boned with big buttery oak structure. Tot it was a Montrachet. Rich though and slightly oxidized. Think it did better than previously tasted but the rich pate really hits u. Big and slightly alc.
