  • 2005 Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Blagny

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

    Pure gold colour in the glass. The cork was pulled, and sat open for an hour prior to tasting. A sweet, musty, sauternes like nose, with notes of pear and dried apricot. Some oak coming through on the palette, as well as some candied peach, but was quite empty on the mid palette. A tart, acidic, long finish, with some notes of lemon. This evolved quite a bit in the glass, and got much better as it had a chance to breathe. Probably should have been decanted to show it's true profile

  • 2006 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Couchereaux Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru

    Strong aroma of espresso on the nose, as well as tart plum, cherry, some sweet dark berries, and strawberry. Very dry and tannic on the palette, showing dark plums, black fruit, and coffee bean on the finish. Mouthwatering acidity. I let the last few sips sit in the glass for about an hour, and it developed an interesting rubber band aroma on the nose. Still drinking very young, and needs some time in the bottle

  • 2006 Château de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

    Popped the cork, and let sit open in the bottle for 2 hours prior to tasting. Dark plum, cranberry, tart red cherry, and dark fruits on the nose. Dense on the palette, showing cassis, sweet cherry, and bitter dark chocolate. Very tannic, with a lot of stuffing and acidity. This is drinking well this young, but would benefit nicely from a couple years in the cellar. Very nice

  • 2001 Château Pontet-Canet

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Decanted for 3 hours prior to tasting. Dark, almost black in the glass. A huge, wonderful nose on this, with sweet dark fruit, cassis, fig, and black pepper coming through. Quite a bit lighter on the palette than I was expecting compared to the nose, showing stewed dark plums, and leather characteristics. Very elegant. Lots of tannin, but well integrated at this point after a good decant. A long, dry finish, with some prune notes. Will wait a couple more years before trying another, but still very enjoyable at this point in it's life.

  • 2000 Château Latour Les Forts de Latour

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Decanted for 1.5 hours. Very sweet on the nose, with strong dark fruit, red licorice, and cherry notes coming through. A bit of anise on the palette, showing ripe dark berries, prunes, and cherry jam. A dark, dense wine, bit still a bit unresolved. Not as tannic as I expected. A nice touch of lavender on the finish. Very good

  • 2007 Château Doisy-Védrines

    France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

    Light, pale yellow. Tons of honey on the nose, as well as some ripe pear, melon, and pineapple. Apricot coming through on the palette, plus some cantelope, honey, and some nice floral spicy-ness. As other have noted it's very viscous, and I like the acidity on the finish. Very well balanced considering how young it is. Extremely enjoyable.

  • 2007 Château Guiraud

    France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

    Light amber in the glass. Lots of honey coming through on the nose, as well as some sweet melon, a bit of petrol, and some floral notes. Pear coming through on the palette, as well as some apricot and lavender. I enjoyed the tart, spicy finish. Very good
