Orange and brown tinge with a very slight dustiness on the nose. Just a little fruit (hint of strawberry) and then a clinical alcohol nose. Very short finish and with classic Sangiovese acidity.
Dark brown tinge and showing some age. More a brooding merlot than a cab although cassis on the nose. Medium length finish with heavy tannins. Just not living up to its initial ratings. Should be good with a ribeye steak.
Beautiful terrior, clean chalkiness and earthy nose. Green pepper with berries. I was suprized at the brown tinge on the edge and would not have expected that at all with a 5 year old - I wonder if these have been kept well when transported from South Africa. The cork also began to crumble when I opened it so something else may be going on here. Need to taste a further bottle to decide if I am going to buy cases to store away.
Unfortunately this one does not live up to the promise or the hype of Hall. I will see what it is like after a few days. A very slight terrior and earthiness on the nose and just generally seems to be tooo young. Dry finsh with heat and even a bite in the early part of the finish. Heavy to moderate tannins with dark fruit. Unless it improves, not one I will buy to store in the cellar.
This is my standard Sauternes and one I like when I can't drink d'Yquem every night. This year does not seem to have the fullness and richness of ones past. Nice nose with light apricots. honey and pear. Dries and finishes fairly quickly.
