Introduction
A nice overall tasting of Chardonnay from 3 main areas of the world. The Leeuwin was a clear cut favorite and one of the top Chardonnay's I have ever tasted. I also really enjoyed the Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet.
2004 Petaluma Chardonnay 90 Points
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Piccadilly Valley
Third time tasting this wine and it is on a decline but still very drinkable. Very little oak flavor currently and features apple, pear, minerals and subtle spices. Acidity is a little low and medium finish. Drink up if you have any left.

2009 Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Napa Valley 90 Points

A nice wine and my first Cakebread Chardonnay. Orange peel, oak, vanilla and spices dominate the nose and palate. Good acidity and medium finish.

2008 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay Napa Valley 91 Points

I have sampled this wine 4 times and it was drinking really well tonight with minerals, apple, pear and floral notes. Very mild oak and a clean wine. I could see this drinking well for 3 more years but it is peaking now.

2005 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte Bouguerots 90 Points

Mild oxidation with flint, lemon zest, orange peel and apples. Good acidity and medium finish and previous bottles showed much better.

2005 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series 95 Points

Easily the best Chardonnay in recent memory. It is rare to see reviewers agree on anything and this was wine of the night by the group with over 80% in agreement. Very fragrant with orange peel, almonds, apple, pear and lemons. The palate shows some oak that is nicely integrated into the wine. Very complex finish and long. No flaws in this wine. Back the truck up if it could be found for under $50 but I will buy a few more bottles to see this wine evolve. I love the fact that it is a screw cap!

2009 Calera Chardonnay Mount Harlan 91 Points

This wine got better with some time but not near the 96 pointer. Pinneapple, floral, oak and vanilla dominate the wine. I have one more bottle and will cellar for 3 to5 years as it is a big wine.

2006 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts 93 Points

A really nice wine drinking well right now. Minerals, lemon, orange peel, and floral notes on the nose and palate. Good acidity and long finish. I don't think it will improve much beyond this and with premox always an issue drink up now.

2004 Philippe Colin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes 91 Points

Drink up but still a really nice wine. I liked this more than the rest of the group and it featured shells, apple, orange and mild oak. A rich and balance wine that had a medium to long finish.
