Simple and fruit forward with ample tannin and good balance. One of the better red Bordeaux values I have ever seen at $8. I wouldn't age this one, but it is drinking very well right now. Maybe 2009 is going to be a great Bordeaux vintage after all.
The most oaky wine of the tasting. Really kind of new-worldish oak flavors hiding the fruit. This might be ok after a few years in the cellar help integrate the oak, but this is not destined to be anything special.
Best wine of the tasting. Fruit is a bit on the restrained side but showed some nice cherry, currant, and leather. Nice balancing acidity and some soft tannins on the long finish. Not shut down like some other 2005s right now. This would go great with many red meat dishes.
Pretty shut down right now but nose and palate promise a good future for this wine. At the mid-palate, a wall of tannins puts up a blockade. This one's gonna need a few years, maybe more than a few.
