Introduction

Sam brought the wines, I tasted double blind.

  • 2008 Allora Negroamaro Puglia IGT 86 Points

    Italy, Puglia, Puglia IGT

    Decanted for an hour, tasted double blind. A rather dark red in colour and also on the nose, with blueberry and herbs, somewhat of a green streak here. Some tannins on the palate, bit of earth, dark berries. Not very remarkable, but certainly quaffable.

  • 2008 Egri Korona Borház Eger Danubia Egri Cuvée 79 Points

    Hungary, Felső-Magyarország, Eger

    Decanted for an hour, tasted double blind. A surprisingly light red, I thought this was a Pinot Noir (but this has Merlot, Cab Sauv, Kekfrankos and Menoir in it!). The nose was also very light, with burnt rubber and a bit of strawberry. Rather light on the palate as well, with some lingonberry. Hmm, nah, no, not very good.
