The Wines of Kobrand

We were served some of the Italian wines of Kobrand with a lunch in between the two flights.

• 2009 Bollini Pinot Grigio Trentino 86 Points

  Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Trentino

  Bright, metallic aromatics. Medium bodied. Some roundness. Nothing to walk across the room to have someone else try, but if you're thirsty and someone puts it in your hands, it'll go down.

  Has a touch of herbal spice. An off toasty thing. I just don't enjoy this.

  Muted aromatics. Classic Chianti. though. High acid. Red cherries. Maybe a little earth. A little air and this starts to come alive. Nice, classic Chianti.

  Dark maroon color. Beautiful nose. Not over the top at all, more feminine in style. Well balance, rocking bottle of wine. Some serious tannins still with this. That yummy Brunello funk starts to come on. Beautiful stuff. 92-93

  This isn't doing it for me. Very dark. Ripe, bordering on overipe. A little baked even. NOt very enjoyable. No freshness here. The aromas did improve with time, but this isn't a wine I'd want to shell out the money for. 87-88

  Pretty nose, with blackberry fruit and mint. Soft and velvety. The palate has a lot of fruit, a little funk. A really fun, funky wine. I wish the price was a little less, but it doesn't seem like there's a difficulty for the winery to sell this at this price. 92+
