Absolutely lovely wines. The Monte Bello is stunning and worth it's high price. The Santa Cruz Mountains is always a great bargain and drinks very well on its own, though it suffered here when directly compared to the Monte Bello. The Geyserville and Lytton Springs are absolute bargains and are very interesting wines that each would have their place in a cellar (though slightly different styles, the Geyserville being more minerally and the Lytton Springs being more fleshy/fruity). The Paso Robles was probably the weakest and I would not purchase, though it is a varietally correct enjoyable Zinfandel (that would be excellent at $20 instead of $30).

Really nice black fruits, pretty ripe. Hint of herbal component. Tannic on the front end with a sweet finish, nice good clean acidity at the end but a bit flabby in the front and middle (with the flavors, not the texture). Would cellar for 1-3 yrs before trying again.

Lovely clean complexity. Nose has minerality, great black fruit, exceptional. Palate is deep, juicy, but a little reticent today. Tannins are solid throughout. Very young. Needs 10+ years of age to develop. 94+

Minerally, some slate. Clean fruit, mostly black with some red fruits. Palate is round, good fruit. Could use a few years in the cellar. 92-93

2008 Ridge Lytton Springs 92 Points

A bit smoky and meaty. Palate has spices, black fruit, a strong tannic finish. Needs 5-7 years minimum. Excellent, and a different style than the Geyserville (richer, more fruits instead of the Geyserville's minerality). Lovely. 92+

2007 Ridge Zinfandel Paso Robles 87 Points

Nice red fruit on the nose, especially cranberry. Very light colored. Palate has a whiff of smoke, simple but great red berry fruit. Ready to drink now or could use a year or so in the cellar.
