The Saturdays at One crew got together this past Sunday for a high end Sake tasting. Here are the results:

  • NV Daimon Shuzo Nigori Voices in the Mist Tozai 88 Points

    Japan, Kansai, Kyoto

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Crystal clear looking throughout. Lighter styled sake on the nose and palate. Serviceable but nowhere near my favorite of the tasting.

  • NV Kizakura Junmai Nigori Snow Maiden Premium 86 Points

    Japan, Kansai, Kyoto

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Cloudy looking throughout. Nose and palate were a bit sweetish in nature, not something I typically seek in a sake. Banana like aromas and flavors. Easily my least favorite sake of the tasting.

  • NV Ama no To Tokubetsu Junmai "Heaven's Door" 90 Points

    Japan, Tōhoku, Akita

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Crystal clear looking throughout. Good, solid palate that is crisp and clean. Nice, slightly herbal nose. Light flavors of apple on the palate. Good sake. Recommended.

  • NV Nanbu Bijin Junmai Daiginjo Ancient Pillars 94 Points

    Japan, Tōhoku, Iwate

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Very attractive nose of flowers, herbs and mixed citrus fruits. Clean and crisp on the palate with citrus and pear flavors. Easily the best sake of the tasting and my personal favorite. Highly recommended.

  • NV Takasago Shuzo Junmai Daiginjo Ginga Shizuku (Divine Droplets) Hokkaido 92 Points

    Japan, Hokkaido

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Clear looking throughout with a slight yellowish twinge. Nice nose of orange slices and florals. Light palate with a bit of an earthy finish. Good sake. Recommended although not a personal favorite.

  • NV Konteki Junmai Dai Ginjo Pearls of Simplicity 92 Points

    Japan, Kansai, Hyōgo

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Light, perfumed nose. Light but crisp and clean palate with flavors of yellow apples. Good sake, recommended although not a personal favorite.

  • NV Tentaka Shuzo "Silent Stream" 93 Points

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Nice nose of florals and ocean breeze. Good palate, crisp and clean, with flavors of lime, a spritz of sea foam and minerals. Good sake and recommended.

  • NV Doi Shuzo Junmai Ginjo Takatenjin "Soul of the Sensei" 93 Points

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Nice nose of perfume and ocean breeze. Flavors of lychee and mixed tropical fruits. Good sake. Recommended.

  • NV Ama no To Tokubetsu Junmai "Heaven's Door" Time of Reflection 94 Points

    Japan, Tōhoku, Akita

    Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Crystal clear looking throughout with a slight yellowish twinge. Light nose of juniper and sea foam. Elegant palate of mixed yellow fruits, tropical fruits, spice and herbs. Excellent sake. Highly recommended.
