nice red fruit aromas and some really pretty elements: part of me wants to say high toned, but i don't think that is right. it also has a good dose of sous bois. a very fruity palate but it is lacking a little on the midpalate, but there is a nice finish. overall it has enough going on to be very enjoyable but there are better wines for the money.
lots of red fruit aromas. it's quite full on the palate, but the palate doesn't feel linked to the weight of the nose. it definitely needs a little time to settle down, apparently it was only bottled 6-8 weeks ago. i believe it will be a very rich and fruity wine.
incredibly different nose. lots of purple fruits. definitely blackcurrant, a touch of smoke? hints of menthol. a great nose, real character to it. the palate is not as fantastic, but it is very good. there is some real complexity developing. i'm amazed that this is open for business, most of my 05 burgundy has been completely closed and inaccessible for about 12 months. time to open a couple and see how they are developing.
a more conventional nose. lots of attractive elements but they are a little subdued and have to be coaxed out of the glass. the palate is excellent, better than the besancenot, really silky smooth. i think this is a little shut down right now and would like to taste again in a year or two.
deeper colours and deeper aromas than the 03, very nicely balanced with some feminine elements. excellent palate, the attack is full and fruity, plenty of interest on the midpalate and a nice finish. a touch of tannin still, an excellent wine.
colours are deeper still, though not as deep as some USA pinot noir. dark fruit aromas, heavy ox blood. the flavours are much denser. some unresolved tannins suggest this still has some development to go. excellent and a great counterpoint to the volnays.
lovely sweet fruits and meaty aromas. again very dense fruits on the palate. really lovely balance, the most balanced so far. nice acidity, tannins and complexity.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
good nose with a touch of complexity, plenty of sweet fruits. really arresting attack, quite round. the fruits are a little hidden and i think this will open up in a few years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges
really lovely farmyard aromas, but also some lofted elements. very, very pretty indeed. very balanced palate. the fruits are present but not dominant and there are some alluring secondary elements. class in a glass.
