Introduction
We decided to see how the 2001 vintage was holding up in Napa. Why not have them with some steak? Sounded like a good idea and didn't disappoint. All wines were decanted for 4 hours prior to consumption. All wines were tasted blind.

Although the Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet started off the winner, the Bond St. Eden took the pole position by the end of the evening.
2001 Dominus Estate 92 Points

Youthful appearance - very dark. Brooding dark fruits with faint earthen background. Gritty and present tannins. Midweight wine and alcohol a little noticeable. Tart cherries and a long finish.

2001 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 92 Points

A little bit of red in the rim and no water table. Olive upfront, ceder and broken stone. Tannins were present buy unoffensive. Wine had a shorter finish than the others in the flight.

2001 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 94 Points

Hint of brickishness on rim. Deep ruby red with blackberry escaping the glass. Mild oak, good weight and subtle yet gritty tannin. Completely balanced with multiple layers and texture. Long finish.

2001 BOND St. Eden 93 Points

Faint brick rim but very dark color. Succulent aromas of black cherry, black berry but mature fruit. Chalky tannin with acidity present. All components integrated well and this will age gracefully.
