Introduction
This was the inaugural monthly blind tasting for the group and was a resounding success and very enjoyable new format.
1999 Joseph Drouhin Puligny-Montrachet 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
Guessed this was white Rhone due to thick, high viscosity texture, reserved steely fruit and the mineral finish. Was surprised this was chardonnay, but have little experience with aged white burgundy and how age affects the profile. Although to me, this was a bit over the hill.

2009 Domaine Adhémar et Francis Boudin Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 91 Points

I guessed this was white Bordeaux given the crisp, light bodied fruit and some creaminess to the texture (presumably from Semillon). Again, was surprised this was Chablis given the creamy texture and little steely, mineral notes on the finish. Redknife observed this filled out as it warmed and did start to resemble Chablis characteristics. A very nice wine.

I vacillated between an older right bank and northern Rhone. This was a very poor year for the region which did come through in its thinness and lack of intensity. Surprised it showed as well as it did given the vintage and its age.

2002 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 93 Points

easily my WOTN. This had rich dark fruit, was very well balanced, and a little hardness to it, causing me to guess it to be an 03 Graves. When it was revealed as an 02 Cotie Rotie, I was stunned as that is the worst vintage in 20 years for the northern Rhone region (many did not even release certain wines that year). That showed me what truly great vineyards can accomplish even in poor years. I would have thought that buying that wine would be just to get a big label cheap, yet the wine was delicious and stood out among the others.

2000 Château Chauvin 91 Points

This was one of mine, so no guesses. I thought it was better at opening than when tasted 1.5 hours of decanting later. Came across as tight and still a little tannic, with red fruit and medium acidity. I would hold another couple of years to hit its sweet spot.

my #2 wine of the night. Don’t recall what I guessed this as (I think southern Rhone), but thought it was young. When revealed as a 94 CdP, we all marveled at how fresh and young the fruit was for a wine of its age. Delicious wine drinking at its peak now.

I guessed this as Bordeaux, as it was a good representative of the Left Bank. Not a big or powerful wine, but nicely balanced and enjoyable.

2007 Domaine le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras Cuvée Lopy 92 Points

This was my #3 WOTN, and no guesses as it was one of mine. I expected this to be a bit of a fruit bomb and was not disappointed. Not a classic Rhone in any way, this is a full throttle style in a big fruit forward vintage. Though it still has some of the Old World characteristics like higher acidity and a lack of heavy weight, ripeness, or jamminess often found in New World Rhone blends. Very fun to drink now while it's still primary and young.
