  • 2004 Aubin Cellars Pinot Noir Verve Sonoma Coast 90 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

    Red fruited nose, hint of toffee. Red cherries on the palate, nice balance and silky texture. (my 2nd, group's 3rd)

  • 2004 Rhys Alesia Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 85 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

    Vanilla infused whipped cream on the nose. More vanilla on the palate to go with raspberry jam. Medium body, nice texture, but overly confected for my palate. Obviously surprised when this was unblinded. (my 6th, group's 8th)

  • 2004 Siduri Pinot Noir Sonatera Vineyard 88 Points

    Big, pretty nose of warm baking spices. Ripe black cherry fruit, ever so slightly jammy, but nicely balanced with moderate acidity. (my 4th, group's 1st)

  • 2004 Nalle Pinot Noir Hopkins Ranch 83 Points

    Lightest color of the nine wines. Agave nose that carries over to the palate. Light body, too much green for me. I don't think anyone else was noticing the green, definitely not the four people who rated this the best wine of the night. (my 8th, group's 4th)

  • 2004 Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Durell Vineyard 89 Points

    Pretty red cherry nose. Light to medium body with sweet raspberry and cranberry fruit. Just a touch of both astringency and heat on the finish keep this from being great. (my 3rd, group's 2nd)

  • 2004 Kistler Pinot Noir Cuvée Catherine 84 Points

    Interesting nose of vanilla extract. Sweet, oaky and confected on the palate. Not remotely my style, or apparently the group's. (my 7th, group's 7th)

  • 2004 Fort Ross Pinot Noir Fort Ross Vineyard 92 Points

    Lovely red fruit and baking spice nose. Light to medium body with raspberry and strawberry flavors. Moderate acidity and perfect balance. Not particularly complex but on point. Far and away the best wine of the flight for my palate. (my 1st, group's 5th)

  • 2004 Whetstone Wine Cellars Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard 86 Points

    Explosive, sweet nose of cherry pie. Sweet cherries on the palate. Medium+ acidity is nice, but it was still overwhelmed by the sweet fruit. (my 5th, group's 6th)
