The Murphy-Goode Fume is a pale straw wine with a light body. The nose is reluctant with citrus and peach and a slight herbaceousness (grassy). Somewhat lacking in acidity for a Sauvignon Blanc with tastes of white grapefruit, leading to a short finish with more white grapefruit. I find this unappealing as it is a flabby Sauvignon Blanc if such a thing can exist!

Appearance of pale straw with a light body, the Chateau Ste. Michelle H3 Sauvignon Blanc has a nose of citrus, mineral and hints of floral notes. In the mouth, it is crisp with good acidity, with tastes of lime citrus, white grapefruit and plenty of minerality. The finish is short to medium length with white grapefruit. Per winery, 89% SB and 11% Semillon.
The Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc/Viognier is a pale straw wine and light bodied. The nose is pleasingly fruity and floral with scents of honeysuckle, peach, citrus with a sharp grassy note in the background. This is round in the mouth, with tastes of peach, honeysuckle and minerals. The finish has medium length with peaches and a slight oakiness, even though the wine has seen no oak.
The Acrobat Pinot Gris is a light-bodied, pale straw colored wine. The nose is very closed, yielding up some slight florals over time. Decent acidity and minerality in the mouth, with tastes of citrus, nectarine, white peach and pear. The short finish had white peach and white grapefruit. This style of Pinot Gris has much more appeal than the lemon wedge in ice water Italian style. However, this is not the best example of this type of style. It saw no oak, but was bottled 100% sur lie.
The pale yellow Starmont Chardonnay has a medium body with a nose of toast, pear, slight hints of butter and a cantaloupe note as it warms. Tastes of green apple and toasted oak in the mouth, with good acidity. The medium length finish features green apple, caramel, and hints of coconut. 65% stainless and 35% french oak (20% new) serve to provide the "kiss of oak" style rather than the heavily oaked style popular in Cali Chardonnays.

2009 King Estate Pinot Gris Acrobat 87 Points
