A light yellow wine with a sweet nose of vanilla and honeydew melon. Creamy butterscotch is predominant with hints of lemon citrus that is balanced with just enough acidity. The finish is butterscotch and toast. The new french oak used in a quarter of the barrels is obvious in this wine. This is a great deal at this QPR. Outstanding for the price.
This is a fruity garnet wine with a nose of cherry, cloves and vanilla. The taste has plum and cherry with a hint of vanilla. The finish is fruity, cherries and plum. This seems to get fruitier and sweeter as it opens up. Very enjoyable and easy to drink, but not very complex.
Red currant, pepper, cedar and vanilla comprise this vibrant nose. The taste is white pepper, with red currant and raspberry. The finish continues with more of the same and vanilla. At this young stage, the tannins are mouth coating. Now, the small portion of syrah is very assertive in this blend. It needs a year or two. I enjoyed this one quite a bit after it had a chance to breathe.
This is a wonderful wine with a nose of pepper, nutmeg and an earthy scent that opens into mushroom over time. The mouth is smooth and lucious with tastes of black raspberry. The finish is long with black raspberry, blueberry and some pepper. This is one I enjoyed now and this will evolve into something nice over time.

2006 Charles Smith Merlot Holy Cow 86 Points
