Introduction
Our first stop during our last day in the valley was at Baldacci Family Winery. The 17 acre property with its' hodge podge, quaint collection of facilities is quietly nestled along the Silverado Trail in the Stags Leap District.
On this occasion we participated in the Reserve Tasting that was held primarily in the Cellar Room with a brief walking tour of the property and cave intermixed. Our knowledgeable and friendly tasting room host led us through 8 of the Baldacci offerings included in the Reserve Tasting with the addition of 1 bonus wine. Reserve Tastings are by reservation only for a fee of $25.00 per person. Regular walk up tastings are also offered in the regular tasting room for $10.00 per person to taste 3 wines. Tasting fees are refundable with a purchase.

Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of Orange foam, apricot, acacia and a hint of either guava or papaya. Flavors of lychee, peach and apricot. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Drink over the next 2-3 years plus or minus.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose fo berries, smoke, white pepper, black raspberries, currants and a bit of acacia. Flavors of Bing cherries, black currants, black berries and some bitters on the finish. Medium acidity, firm tannins, full bodied. Hold 2-3 years then drink over the 4-10 year windows plus or minus.
