old style(white) label, implying an older disgorgement nose: almonds, dry cracker palate: ever so slightly bitter in the midpalate, with a shortish finish, this still delivers ripe, nuanced fruit, almond dust, and a delicate profile with a hint of maturity.
nose: bretty, with some herbal/forest floor character rather than straight barnyard. I don't really enjoy the barnyard aromas, but lacking those, the nose on this was not bad palate: OK. Not life-changing, this had sour plum flavors but didn't give up a lot of complexity. ALl in all, I found it rather boring.
nose: quite high-toned in comparison to the Charles Joguet tasted alongside, this almost seemed to suffer some VA. It tasted blackened, almost machine-fluid dirty, and green in a not-so-appetizing way. I like greenness in wines, which is why I like Chinon, but this tasted like the fruit had been replaced by lubricant> Different, but not great.

This was unquestionably my WOTN. And at $22, I clearly need to track down a case.
nose: really beautiful, piercing, and defined by slate, rock salt, and brick dust palate: granite, definitely granite. Other rocks, other minerals... this was ALL THAT and more....just a perfect wine with a supple, velvet mouthfeel even as it delivered a teeth-breaking rock-crunching experience. Dynamite.
nose: green honey, grape juice, steely, bruised apple and citrus palate: kind of chalky, with a mineral lift, this was slighly more oxidized than the Clisson, also showing similar citrus , but with an older, hazier, less defined personality. Pretty good for a bottle from which I had no idea what to expect.

This was a bit disappointing, given all the raves I hear about CHidaine. The nose had cinnamon and some spiced honey, and aromas of soot, bread, grass and metal all appeared to my nostrils at one time or another. Sadly, the palate offered mere ghosts of the aromas previously mentioned in flavor form. It had a bit of brown sugar taste (due to residual sugar), and though the palate was not entirely devoid of interest, in the end it was better than just OK, but not as interesting as I was hoping for.
nose: baked bread soaked in gasoline. It was very weird and hard to define the nose, but this is the closest I can get. Maybe there was also some overripe melon in there too. palate: this tasted a bit gluey and oxidized in a good way, the sappy, thick syrup of the wine was unlike a typically "clean" or "fresh" tasting vouvray that I enjoy. Though captivating for a little bit, it became tiresome to finish a whole glass.
