  • 2002 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

    Alcohol :: 13.5%
    Still light yellow for this 9yrs old white. It was tight with solid acidic spine with very pure mineral and vanillin oak the dominated the flavor profile as well as the nose. After 2.5hours in decanter, the wine started to unfold itself and singing. Fantastic nose of fresh herb, cold spices with an array of green apple, melon fruits that accompany by very perfume white floral, pure mineral and tiny dose of fresh honey at the background, deep and complex with elegance in it. As good as the nose, the highly concentrated and rounded palate is simply stunning with the crystalline and precision to the richly, luscious white fruits and spices coated palate, again with aromatic floral that fill up the mouth all well balance with the lively acidity to form the solid structure, power but well in check with sense of elegance and finished long, with spices, mineral nuanced that linger. This has the stunning purity and very clean profile. The oak has pretty much integrated but to fully integrated, this need at least another 8-10yrs. A very very good Corton Charlemagne. Buy - Yes.

  • 2001 Château Trotanoy

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

    Alcohol :: 13.5%
    Dark ruby core with thin brownish hue. While the wine is still pretty young, it does show beautifully, be it pop and poured or after 2hours in the bottle. Beautiful nose, complex and deep but with this sense of elegance and freshness to it, new saddle leather, capsicum, earth intermixed with sweet dark plum and blackberry with hint of meatiness added even better complexity to it. Palate is equally as good, with very rich lush dark fruits, complex with earth, roasted herb and wild gameness, powerful but not overly so with really harmonious profile and gorgeous texture that make this a sexy wine! The tannin is silky and firm yet rounded leads to the detail, focus long finish linger with dark plum, spices aftertaste. There is upside potential for this wine, give it another 5yrs at least. Buy - Yes.
