Flight 1 (9 Notes)

  • 2003 Château Lafite Rothschild 96 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Brought to an (blind) Angelus vertical opinions varied between Ausone 2003 or Cheval Blanc 1998. Explosive nose with roasted coffee beans, milky-way, Valrhone chocolate, cedar tones and more. Thick, powerful and unusual for a Pauillac on the palate. Needs more time to open up.

  • 1998 Château Pavie 94 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

One of my favorite Right Bank wines. Smooth and sultry on the nose with licorice, chocolate and dark red fruits. Powerful and warm on the palate with iron, dark red fruits as cherry and cassis. The iron and classic tones is what this wine differentiates from wines like the Monbousquet 1998.

  • 1990 Château La Dominique 92 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Classic Saint-Emilion, great wine. Colour browning on the rim. Earth, minerals, graphite, wagyu and other secundary tones as medicine box on the nose. Medium to full bodied, mature wine with vanilla, minerals and lots of character.

Overripe dark fruit and smooth tones on the nose. Thick and smooth on the palate, very charming wine but missing complexity.

  • 1995 Château Angélus 95 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Dark purple colour. Big powerful wine with underwood, cassis fruits and cream in a beautiful balance on the nose. Very COMPLEX and super Elegant on the palate. Still abundant tannins for a long life. Today the best Angelus between bottles of 2001, 2000, 1998 and 1993.
