Introduction

Another great showing of Kitchak Cellars wines. This smaller cultish production is one of the better options in Napa that most people are not familiar with based on the lack of Cellar Tracker notes. The owners are based out of Minneapolis but spend a fair amount of time in Napa. This is what I call "Minnesota Wine"

    Every year my favorite Rose. Complex with sour cherry, minerals, floral, strawberry and subtle oak. I was not surprise when the pourer told me this receives some oak barreling. As good as the 09 for sure.

    One of the best whites tasted this year. Apricots, floral, oak, vanilla, orange peel, lemon and minerals. The wine changed over time and it certainly will improve with some cellar time.

    47% Marsanne, 47% Roussane and 6% Chardonnay.

    Very nice wine that improved over the night. Ripe fruit featuring cherry, plums and raspberries. Leather, floral and spice add to the complexity of this wine. Medium to long finish. A one point difference behind the mighty 07.

    Wow! What a great wine and one of the better in the $80 price point from Napa! Dark in color with a nose of tobacco, dust, dark cherry and spice. The palate was a dead ringer for a riper vintage Right Bank. Long and complex finish and higher percent of Merlot than the 06. 94+

  • 2007 Kitchak Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Concerto Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 92 Points

    Extremely young. This is not showing near what the 06 showed at this time last year. Medium purple in color. Nose of spice, oak, pepper, dust and cherry on the nose. The palate reveals minerals along with dust, pepper, oak and red fruits. Medium finish and I would cellar for five years as this wine was barreled in 100% new French oak for 29 months. 92-95.
