The theme tonight was Barolos with a few bonus bottles and a nice Barbaresco.

There were some really excellent wines tonight. The 2000 Sandrone Cannubi Boschis Barolo was the near unanimous winner of WOTN with 11 of 13 top votes.
2009 Banfi Piemonte Gavi Principessa Gavia 88 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Gavi
Light gold color. Soft citrus nose, lemon. The palate is light, fairly dry, lemon, a bit bitter on the finish. Pleasant but fairly simple.

2006 La Ca' Növa Barbera d'Alba Loreto 87 Points

Medium red color. Heavy on the earth, fruity, cherry, plum, very rustic. Decent everyday food wine.

2000 Fratelli Seghesio Barolo Vigneto la Villa 90 Points

Dark red color with moderate bricking. Good nose, leather, licorice, earth, cherry, caramel, oak. The palate has earth, cherry, spice and pepper, medium finish. Nicely balanced. 90+pts.

2005 Castello di Neive Barbaresco Santo Stefano 90 Points

Medium red color. Subtle earth, lots of strawberry, raspberry, with a scorched note later. The mid palate is a bit thin, fruity, raspberry, strawberry, spice, tart. Nose is the highlight here.

2000 Elio Altare Barolo 93 Points

Dark red color, no bricking. Nose is gorgeous, lavender, cherry, raspberry, cedar, leather. The palate is elegant, cherry and raspberry fruits, cedar, minerals, concentrated. This is drinking really well again. My #2 WOTN, Group #3. 93+ to 94 pts.

2006 Parusso Barolo Bussia 93 Points

very dark red color. This has a really unique nose. Kiwi, tropical, strawberry, black cherry, floral, licorice, a candied note, perfume as this opens. This was a bit tight to start, but patience paid off for those that waited. Moderate tannins, but round, integrated well for the age, nice mouth feel, long finish. This really improved over 2 hours and was my #3 WOTN. This should be stellar down the road. 93+pts.

2004 Andrea Oberto Barolo Vigneto Albarella 92 Points

Dark red color. Nose has cedar, precise stream of berries, earth, ripe raspberries. The palate has good concentration, lush, nice finish, moderate round tannins, again well balanced and drinking nicely at this point. My #4, Group #2. 92pts.

1998 Massolino Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda 91 Points

Dark red color. Old school Barolo, nose is dominated by leather, tar, oak, burnt, carmelized, some floral elemenets, little fruit. Still marked tannins, oak, rustic. Tough to handle without some food, but a nice fatty cheese works!

2000 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis 94 Points

Dark red color, no bricking. Nose has lovely mix of earth, blueberries, raspberries, cedar, leather, licorice, florals. The palate is extremely concentrated, layers of dark fruit, blueberry, blackberry, leather, great mouth feel, round tannins, long finish. This is a real pleasure. My WOTN and Group WOTN with 11 of 13 first place votes. 94+pts.

NV Banfi Piemonte Brachetto d'Acqui Rosa Regale 87 Points

Bright ruby color. Nose is very fruity, predominately strawberry with some ripe raspberry, floral. This is sweet on the palate, a bit cloying, but not too bad. Definitely a crowd pleaser.
