Montecastro Tasting

A pleasant tasting of Montecastro wines – 2004-2008. The tasting was organized by the "Giacondas" – Anat & Rafaela and conducted by Beltran Erhard – the winery's winemaker.

The Alcante is made whenever the quality of the grapes are not enough for the Montecastro.

  Alconte is the second wine from Montecastro. This wine is great value for money! Aromas of fresh and ripe fruits. Not very complex but pleasant. Full bodied and round, silky tannins. Medium acidity and good balance.

  Not yet in the market. Closed in the nose. Aromas of ripe fruits, marmalade. Full bodied, round, medium acidity and very very soft tannins.

  Not in the market yet. Very expressive nose, much more opened than the '08. Mostly ripe fruits, with hints of coffee. A lot of sweetness in the palate. Full bodied, round and soft. Approachable just now!

  Expressive and complex. Aromas of fruit mixed with smoke and sweetness. The palate – in harmony with the nose - very sweet, round, soft. The best of the evening (46$).

  100% Temprenillo. Ripe fruits, alcoholic. Less complex than the previous ('06). Full bodied, hints of bitterness.
