  • 2006 Pine Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 90 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    Blackberry and licorice on the nose, with background notes of bittersweet chocolate, black olives, and toasted oak. Minty on the palate, with dark rich fruit and chocolate underneath. The mid-palate adds in some licorice, and it finishes with some mineral drenched olives.

  • 2007 Forchini Zinfandel Proprietor's Reserve 89 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley

    Bramble and berry on the nose, with sweet spice underneath. There's a nice deliciousness to this wine. It's not big or over-the-top, but it still has all the flavors you associate with Zin.

  • 2006 Chateau Montelena Zinfandel The Montelena Estate 88 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, Calistoga

    Blueberries and cherry on the nose, with hints of chocolate and licorice behind. Rich on the palate, with dark chocolate and licorice, violets and cherry, and a nice blueberry finish.

  • 2006 Swanson Merlot 86 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    Ripe fruit on the nose, especially black currant and raspberry, along with a little pepper and mocha. Quite tannic on the palate, and pretty oaky. The fruit and spice flavors are there, but in the background. It may need more time.

    A fairly tight nose, but it had lots of fruit - blackberry and cherry, and some floral notes. The palate is the same as the nose. Very uninspiring.

    Coffee and chocolate on the nose, with hints of cherry and smoke. Soft and juicy on the palate, it has smoke and coffee, with cherry undertones. It finishes with espresso and spice.

  • 2008 DuMOL Chardonnay Chloe 87 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    Lychee and orange peel on the nose, plus pear and minerals. Much more buttery on the palate than the nose, but the flavors are the same as the nose, but much more subdued.
