This is a really impressive Sauvignon Blanc. The nose has a really interesting fruit profile without the usual stereotypes; and there is an intense minerality and some musky floral elements. This is my kind of SB. The palette has a rich mineral texture with a nice long finish. Top notch.
I'm in two minds about this wine. The nose is absolutely beautiful with pears, white flowers and honeyed characters in good balance and the palette starts with a fabulous texture of acidity with a mineral core and starts with some fruit elements, but then everything just fades away almost immediately and there is no finish to speak of. Such a shame.
Stewed plums, briar and spices work well with the vanillin oak and the palette is big and savoury with soft tannins working with the delicate fruit and a nice finish.
Big red fruits with leather and chocolate pushing through them in just the right amounts to create a well balanced nose. There is also some oatmeal and the savoury aspect carries nicely through to the rich and powerful palette with a big acidic streak that pulls the tannins right into line and that balances the smooth, chocolate finish.
This is starting to show some secondary characteristics like big fruitcake, raisin and saddle leather on the nose and a rich savoury palette of briar and spice.
Yet another example of why Heathcote is one of the greatest Shiraz regions in Australia. A perfumed and savoury nose with an earthy warmth and a spicy and peppery palette with delicate tannins and long finish.

2010 Jinks Creek Pinot Noir Rosé 90 Points

A nice bread and yeast nose with big ripe red apples. The palette has a searing acidity complemented by rich fruit and a bright red cherry finish.
