very low level. surprisingly not oxidised. pungent nose of chinese tea leaves and asian spices. not a lot of fruits left. drinkable in an educational, rather than enjoyable, sense.
been waiting to try this wine for years, finally had the chance thanks to the generosity of Mr. Y. Perfect condition, bottled by chateau. Very dark and youthful. Level into neck. Decanted for 1.5 hours. First pour had whiff of graphite and old leather. Powerful, rich and thick, but still a little tight and unyielding. Second pour was much better, with great aromas of plums, truffles and coffee. A real privilege to drink, but for me not really living up to its legendary reputation.

tight and restrained nose to start with. a lot more expressive after decanting. lovely nose of sweet earth and dark fruits. doesn't have the richness or complexity of better vintages but still very enjoyable.

very fresh for its age. zesty with complex minerals. perhaps a little lean on the finish.
