Another great tasting event by the Roberson crew. As always very well presented with a good balance of information, wine variety and quality and easy style.
Our favorite fine wine tastings.

Focus today was introducing the different styles of champagne from Zero dosage to Prestige.

• NV Laurent-Perrier Champagne Ultra Brut

  France, Champagne

  Sharp, acidit, light on palate with a mineral, salty edge.Light in colour and on the nose and very difficult to approach. Needs food, oysters etc.

• NV Taittinger Champagne Brut Réserve / La Française 85 Points

  France, Champagne

  Fresh Crisp, elegant and made in a round easy style. Typical of the Le Gout Francais ie aperitif style champagne. 85 ish

• NV Bollinger Champagne Special Cuvée Brut 91 Points

  France, Champagne

  Full nose , open big, yeasty notes. Fuller style of champagne ( Le Gout Anglaise) , big in body, fat wine but with good balance and vitality. Always a favorite of us. 91

  Sharp, acidic yet rich champagne. Green apple notes, very pure and focussed. very very nice and easy to approach. 90

  A great surprise and voted best value champagne of the tasting
  Yeasty, oaky notes, spice. Red fruits, ripe red fruits. Creamy and balanced. Mild acidity. This is a great discoveryr. 92-93

  Smooth, elegant, concentrated, creamy . Very nice but not amazing and for 80£ u can do better

• NV Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée 93 Points

  A beautiful nose to start, intense. On the palate it feels ripe, balanced with lots of depth. It kept evolving in the glass and simply an amazing wine. 93-94 easily

• 2002 Dom Pérignon Champagne

  Very young and tight. Very foccussed and precise but almost a crime to open it now. So focussed its almost difficult to approach now. Yet you feel the quality and elegance . Wait 10yrs and hope the critics got it right, especially if like us u bought some for investment...

• 2004 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut

  Creamy, round and smooth. Some citrus notes. Made in a fwd style if we can say , especially vs the Dom Perignon. some yeasty notes and although feels less focusses than other prestige cuvees given it is a touch sweeter still u cannot but love this.
