2009 Domaine des Coccinelles Pinot Gris Neuchâtel 87 Points

Solid Swiss Pinot Gris, fairly deep yellow, fuller-bodied and -flavored than average. Perhaps a touch of residual sugar gives some roundness without sweetness. Decent aperitif wine, with or without hors d'oeuvres.

Light-bodied, peachy slightly petrol nose, quite delicate actually. Not super acidic. A light Asian salad helped coax a bit more character from it.

Light bodied, high acid, cherry and earth flavors. Hard to drink alone but excellent with brie and truffle oil to tame the acid, round it and bring out more fruit and earth. Lovely drinking.

Big wine, powerful in a tannic style. Classic Sangiovese character with acid and tannin, but everything amplified. Lots of oak that could use some time to blend in. Good now with food, will still continue for a long time.

Big, ripe, hot-weather Spanish Syrah with 14.5% alcohol. Dark fruit and pepper, but the alcohol stays hot and amplified the acid and tannin more than I enjoy. Not the best balance, but many people liked it.
