Introduction
A few highlights and interesting bottles from a great dinner. There were plenty of other amazing wines (e.g. Petrus) for which I can't find notes yet. I might have started losing interest in writing after the Burgs.
1990 Krug Champagne Clos du Mesnil 97 Points
France, Champagne
Wow, amazingly powerful while still incredibly fresh. starts with a lemony pop and lots of energy. Palate shows a good cross-section of fruit, with more lemon, some orange zest and even/almost some rich tropical fruit. Incredibly long and elegant. Best champagne I've ever had.

1998 Domaine Jacques Prieur Montrachet 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Very ripe fruit - somewhat tropical with apricot alongside lemon and lime peel. Not much acidity. Showing its age, but I certainly wouldn't call this "premox" because the wine is showing better than most 98s I've had recently.

2000 Domaine Jacques Prieur Montrachet 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Lots of energy, far better than the 98 in the next glass, effectively each representing their respective vintages accurately. This had lean and long lemon notes with plent of energy. Acidity is then well complemented by the wine's good fruit. Moderate length, i would have liked a bit more power on finish.

Slightly corked, so really hard to assess underlying fruit at this age.

Dried out and fairly DOA.

1934 Joseph Drouhin Clos Saint-Denis
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru
Ironically this was beautiful while the 1959 and 1969 red Burgs were flawed. Incredible elegance with lots of dried rose petal and lingering hints of strawberry and tart red cherry. Lots of really soft mushroom character with reasonable length.

1964 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva Monfortino Speciale 96 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Starts with a gorgeous powerful nose of dried rose petal, briar patch, licorice and lingering red fruit. Licorice and red fruit followed through perfectly on the palate. Still lots of structure, this had a great long finish.

1982 Château Latour Grand Vin 97 Points

Really great showing, best I've ever had for this generally great wine. Great color, nose showed great spice, currant and graphite. Real classic. Flavors of big black fruit with espresso and cocoa on long. long finish. Most people's WOTN, for me just behind the Krug 90 Mesnil.

Big massive wine showcasing the blackest fruit imaginable. Well done for its style, which isn't my favorite style of Cabernet.

1982 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 83 Points

Lots of red cherry, but quite tart and short. Also lots of secondary character but not really elegant or clean. I was hopeful going in, but it didn't work out.
