Introduction

The Ridge was a great wine!

Flight 1 (9 Notes)

  • 2009 Joseph Drouhin Mâcon-Villages 84 Points

    France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Mâcon-Villages

Ok Chardonnay but we thought blind it was S.B. Grapefruit and minerals dominate the wine. A little grassy character to boot. Got a little better with time but not something I would buy.

  • 2008 Domaine Sainte-Eugénie Corbières Rosé 86 Points

    France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Corbières

Not bad but drink now. A nose of strawberry and cherry. On the palate cherry, floral, and minerals. A little tannic so pair with some red meat. Good value for under $10.

  • 2004 Domaine Latour-Giraud Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

Mild oxidation. Candied pinneapple, apple, minerals and chalk. Complex overall with a medium finish.

  • 2005 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Drinking well and no oxidation on this one. Citrus, floral, minerals and a clean overall profile. Not the most complex wine but no flaws either. Medium finish. Drink now or hold a few years.

  • 2005 Argyle Pinot Noir Nuthouse Willamette Valley 91 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Serious new world Pinot and big. Dark fruits, spice, minerals and floral notes. Concentrated wine and medium to long finish. This should improve with additional time in the cellar.

  • 2001 Ridge Home Ranch 95 Points

    USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains

Almost for sure a top ten wine of the year. Blueberries, bing cherries, coffee beans, earth, leather and minerals are singing on this super complex but integrated wine. Mild/Medium tannins. Medium to long finish and one of the best Bordeaux style blends I have sampled from the US in years. $100 or less buy!

  • 2003 Bodegas Poesia Poesia 92 Points

    Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo

This is why it is good to have a small group so you can go back and retaste. 89 points on the first go around but with some time it opened up with blackberries, spice, minerals and earth. Medium and a real dense wine. Should improve with some cellaring.

  • 2006 Deer Ridge Vineyards Petite Sirah Private Reserve Estate 86 Points

USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Livermore Valley

Too much floral on this one with some ripe fruits and a bit out of balance. Might go well with ribs.

  • 2007 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese 93 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Another great Prum with minerals, petrol, peach and tropical fruit. Over time the petrol blew off and the ripe fruits emerged. Medium and full of flavor finish. Drink now and enjoy the ripe fruits or hold for secondary charcter.
