Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 1997 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Le Mont 93 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray

Dark gold color in the glass
Flowery honeysuckle nose, with a vague fruity note, apricot and caramel.
Flavors of honey, apricot and lychee on the medium finish. Also a trace of botrytis; very light on the tongue; beautiful balance. The finish is long, but very clean; rich and sweet, but not too much like a Sauternes, it is all in balance. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Fairly clean and crisp on the palate.
A great wine that will live a long time.

  • 2001 Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso 92 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

(opened 4 hours before consumption to below shoulders)
    Very dark red-black.
Pleasant classic Cabernet Franc aromas, refined nose of tobacco, berry fruit, light spices and minerals. Classy in its flavors, complex, elegant, with notes of chocolate, vanilla & earth. Plenty of silky tannins. Medium finish. Can be enjoyed on its own or with delicate meat. Hard to recognize that it's 100% Cabernet Franc. Enjoyable!!!

  • 2001 Antinori Solaia 94 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

(opened 4 hours before consumption to below shoulders)
Dark red-black color, dark rim – seems a young wine.
Elegant & velvet-rich aroma of black currants, herbs, vanilla, earth, light raspberry and leather notes that discloses a great wine. Youthfull in every sense.
Rich flavors of cassis, ripe dark berry fruits and mocha chocolate flavors.
Excellent complexity, finesse, power, firm silky tannin and balance.
This wine is all about texture, silky smooth mouth feel, red fruit, lavender, some spice, anise, and finishes with sweet chocolate that lingers forever. Exceptional finish. Delicious. Resembles excellent Bordeaux more than a Tuscan wine. Great wine!
