Deep salmon color. A red in rose's clothing. The Cab Franc character really came through. Dry strawberry fruit, medium weight, tannic finish. Not a cheery quaffer, this demands attention, probably too much so for a lighthearted summer afternoon get together.

Medium color and weight. Lovely red fruit with uplifting herbs. Very friendly and open now-certainly not the tannic backbone I was expecting. It's been a while since I've opened 2005 Chateauneuf, and this made me hopeful that the basic cuvees are starting to come around.
Medium deep. Crackling black fruit and licorice. Since last year, this has tightened remarkably and shed its baby fat. Now it shows typical Beaujolais weight and tart acidity and little of the exuberance of the vintage. Whereas I compared it to Vosne before, today it has more of a brambly Savigny character. Best to hold for several years.

A little bit more grassy and varietal than the taste yesterday, but still a head turner in terms of value.
