Showing only the good signs of its years, this was surprisingly youthful and similar in many ways to the '08 but with both a tad more oak and the saline nuances of slow aging.

Much gentler and more appealing than Hanzell Chards 10+ years its junior. Still rowing with nice acidity and minerality; and pleasurable with its almond tones and completely integrated oak; a lovely compelling finish that lost amplitude fast but then pushed softly long.

Plenty of bing cherry fruit, earth, and mushroom on the steaming, smoky bouquet which danced with hints of orange rind, marshmallow, iron, and baking spices; flavors of bing cherry, lemon-lime, spiced sausage, and dark musty cola; all made possible by a structure of astutely balanced acid and tannins.

An insistent bouquet of deep balsamic and dark chocolate, beef bolognese, earthy vanilla bean, grass, lemon, truffles, and espresso; in the mouth there's reduced grilled berry and dried berries on apricot with liquid parmesan, giving a sexy impression of relaxing in a comfortable leather couch.
