Isn't Burgundy unique? Eight bottles, three clearly underperformed, but we still walk away with a happy wine experience.
1988 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 94 Points
France, Champagne
Incredibly clean and crisp start, then showing some bready character and roasted almonds. Really powerful and concentrated on finish. I generally prefer the cleaner, more citrus styled Champagne, which isn't Krug's wheelhouse, but this 1988 combined Krug's trademark density with the linear beauty of the 1988 vintage.

2008 Domaine Ramonet Chevalier-Montrachet Flawed

Corked. It didn't show the hallmark "wet cardboard" or whatever, but I tasted this amazing wine this spring (sorry, no notes posted yet) and tonight it was an uninteresting muted version of what I tasted previously.

2008 Louis Jadot Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot 95 Points

Blind tasting. Massively perfumed from the get-go. Floral nose with super ripe white stone fruit. Clearly a bit of unresolved oak, so give it another year or two. Massive spice and peach on palate, with great minerality in middle and finish. Really huge potential here, perhaps at the 1989 Jadot Chevalier Demoiselles level (best ever!), so score is conservative based on how it showed tonight, with a slight allowance for oak integrating in the next year.

Very pretty styled RSV showing great Asian spice and elegance in a fairly simple package. Fruit frankly isn't outstanding here, but rather the spice, floral charm and balance make this wine excellent. Good red cherry is combined with really nice spice as well as minerality and acidity to give this a long, clean finish and lots of charm. Open (not decanted) about 90 minutes before served. This wine held steady for another 90+ minutes, then started a slow fade. Probably not getting any better.

Corked. My second bad bottle in two months. We thought the prior bottle just muted and uninteresting, and while this bottle was worse and there shouldn't be a correlation between bottles bought together being corked together...who knows....

Black and red fruit on nose and palate. Reticent spice to start. This wine started as a very nuanced, almost teasing wine, but over a couple of hours really started showing more depth, concentration and spice. Great texture started to unfold, great acidity from start. I am very excited about where this wine will be in 5-15 years. Just kept getting better and better. Wish I owned more.

Popped and poured. Spicy start with really good brown sugar and baking spice on the nose. Not much fruit left, but really charming sous bois and mushroom character along with that same baking spice. This didn't live long in the glass, probably 20-30 minutes, but for that period was clean and powerful, consistent from start to finish, with a reasonably long finish. Drink up.
