Red and black fruit on nose and palate, with some sous bois just starting to emerge. Lots of acidity today that tones down the fruit a bit, but gives texture and lift on the finish. Interesting dinner tonight with Jadot CSJ and Beze 96s and 97s.

Black cherry and spice on the nose with some dark chocolate. Intense and concentrated black fruit on palate. While the fruit is lush, it doesn't show any of the over-ripe or flabby problems seen in so many 1997s, given this wine's acidity and minerality. Lots of structure will guarantee this a long life, so many more years to continue to prove it is better than its (also great) 1996 counterpart. Great dinner tonight with Jadot Beze and CSJ from both 1996 and 1997.

Black cherry and black beery on nose and palate, with some espresso, dark chocolate, cinnamon and anise aromas as well. Powerful fruit picks up weight and density towards middle and end. Great structure, just starting to enter a great phase. Kept getting better and better in glass. Great dinner tonight with Jadot Beze and CSJ from both 1996 and 1997. All great, this bottle was my favorite of the four by a slight margin.

Dark fruit, quite ripe but not jammy. Good floral and spice on the nose. Flavors of dark fruit as well with a wonderful braised meat spiciness. Excellent textures and acidity for the 1997 vintage. Powerful at end. Great dinner tonight comparing Jadot Beze and CSJ from both 1996 and 1997.
