  This seems to be more open than the other wines in this tasting. Rounder in the mouth, some spritz, apples and flowers. Strong notes of yeast. Lengthy and juicy.

  This seems to be holding quite a bit in reserve; like a tightly coiled spring. Steely, slatey and penetrating. Layered and light. Fine lacey mouthfeel.

  A bit tropical, with some tangy apricots -- but this is not heavy. Lifted flavors of lemons and limes, slate and hints of petrol add complexity. Hints at a bit of Botrytis. Serious stuff.

  Airy, high aicid, steely; slight bitterness, in a not unpleasant way. Great tension. Filigree texture.

  Crisp, linear; some noticable spritz. A bit of that Prum funk (sulfur, yeast?). Really scrapes the palate in a pleasantly refreshing manner. A bit closed, but the quality is evident.

  Floral, delicate and decidedly more stoney than the Graacher Himmelreich. Svelt, but with deceptive sap. Mouthwatering and long. The fruits are more subdued, but this is a wonderful cornicopia of rocky goodness.

  Delicate and brisk, yet weighty, with some honey notes. Juicy and succulent. Perhaps a bit primary as the minerality is slightly masked by the high quality fruit. This needs time (obviously) to shed some baby fat, but this will be sublime.

All these wines were top notch and high quality, with a long life ahead of them. If I had to choose beween these two vintages (given this small sample set), I would probably go longer on the 2009s, as I found them slightly more vibrant, focused and brighter.
