  • 2001 Domaine Dujac Morey-Saint-Denis 83 Points

    Beautiful perfume nose of floral, sour cherry, mineral and touch of wildness and green herb, quite complex. A little bit lean on the palate, fully matured with lively acidity for the structured with sour cherry, game and light herbaceous for the flavors and touch of tannin bite for the slight rustic mouth feel. The wine gained a bit of weight and rounder but still, straightforward. The finish is short with mineral aftertaste. This might be better if consumed 3yrs earlier. That's said, 2006 was a much better juice with better lushness and concentration of fruits.

  • 1998 Domaine du Colombier Hermitage 84 Points

    This is slightly over the hill but still quite delicious. High tone of white pepper, smoke, haw flakes and herbs. With some aeration, reveal notes of blackberries, earth and barnyard. Rich, vibrant and fresh, quite acidic at first but slowly rounded and polished up and show light creaminess mouthfeel. This has considerable weight but one dimensional though, with acidity kick in after the mid palate that leads to the slight muscular, spicy infused finish. Drink up.

  • 2007 La Ferme du Mont Châteauneuf-du-Pape Côtes Capelan 88 Points

    Vibrant light purplish red. Popped and poured, the nose was tight, only give away hint of florals but palate was quite approachable with light touch of tannin bite. This take 30mins to show what it's got and when it did, delicious! This is very close to rayas in style with fraction of the price! Highly perfume and focus, very beautiful: rose syrup, lavender, candied cherry, sweet fig and haw flakes, liquid mineral and honey in the background, very complex if not deep. A little bit tannic, with medium level of concentration and complexity of flavors that reflects on the nose with inner perfume of rose and lavender added little touch of haw flakes and fig to the mineral infused medium length finish. This is indeed very good and I really like the style.

  • 2006 Tenimenti d'Alessandro Syrah Cortona Il Bosco 85 Points

    This is a big, muscular wine. Almost black in color. The nose displayed intense aromas of pepper, indian spices with underlying sweet plum, blackberry and even a touch of nailed polish. Palate was dominated by the structured with fruits buried underneath, good weight and also very tannic, seems there were not enough of fruits and dry extract to give it a rest. After 3hrs of decanting, the tannin were mellowed down a little bit and some sweet dark fruits surface with mineral and spices. However, I thought there were merely enough of fruits to absorb the tannin. I have very little exp with this wine so I have no idea if this will ever flesh out. The spicy finish was powerful with medium length, the 15% alcohol was well in-checked. Not bad for the price though.

    The bouquet is aromatic and intense, sour cherry, a little bit wild and earth accompany by touch of red floral. Still a little bit tight on the palate with really good intensity which we thought this might be a very good village or entry level of 1er cru from Gevrey. Everyone was shocked when we got to know this is a Bourgogne! Rich and vibrant with loads of red cherry fruits, mineral and low-level of fine tannin for light grip and leads to the woody spicy infused finish. Very beautiful and man, what a QPR!

  • 2008 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes 91 Points

    Popped and poured. Friend would like to try this to decide if wanted to get more. This was my very first fine example of Ponsot. Bright medium purplish ruby. Heavy reduction marked the aromas and I can only get some game, sense of wildness underneath. With no surprised, the palate is tight with structured upfront. Similar impression to those wines from Ponsot that I had before, very rich, stunning intensity that coat the mouth immediate. However, different from previous wines of Ponsot that is heavy and IMHO over-extracted, this was brilliantly texture, well delineated, good depth and most importantly, vibrant. Tightly coiled, the tannin is there but thanks to the perfect balance and the lively acidity, this was light on the palate, which is, power and grace. The juice flowed through the palate smoothly with mineral, game, red cherry fruits towards the medium length finish that is restraint. This is a baby for sure but very very fine and have all the materials and balance for the aging. Very good now and probably outstanding when its come around in another 7-10yrs time. 91-93+

    p/s: The reduction disappeared after 30-45mins in the glass and displayed very good perfume, red and dark cherry fruits, floral, mineral and wildness. However, the palate was shut down and become very acidic.
