Golden colour. Mineral and green-apple-driven nose, with some aromas of biscuit as well. On the palate, this is quite simple to approach, with some juicy yellow stone fruit notes, as well as notes of anise and brioche. Lovely stuff, but it'd be better warmer and decanted.
Pale gold with a slight tinge of green. Immensely oaky nose, with notes of buttered popcorn, caramel toffee, coconut, and vanilla (and I'm not stereotyping!). Strange herbaceousness on the nose too. On the palate this has a very gooey texture, with some greenish notes of kiwi fruit. Fortunately, there's some acidity to balance, but there's plenty of alcohol (I'm guessing 14.5%) and you can definitely feel it. Some oak nuances on the medium-long finish. Good to sip, terrible to drink.

Some strange chemical notes that were quite off-putting initially, but these dissipated upon vigourous swirling. Intensely acidic, and very delicate yet powerful. Some of the best stuff I've ever had from Italy (or ever, for that matter), and pairing very well with the Tru auction lunch of roast beef tenderloin. Not easy to approach on its own, but a very, very food-friendly wine.

On the palate, this is also very spicy, and the fruit, if there ever was any, has long since dissipated. Very austere and nothing like the stereotype of Californian cabernets that persists today. Very leathery, and tons of acid (and truth be told, not much else). If it were a bit dustier and a lot more tannic, I'd be reminded of an aged St. Julien. If memory serves, this is a 100% cabernet sauvignon wine, I can't help but think that there's some cabernet franc here from the aromatics.
