Interesting wine. Built on a core of minerality this was clean and fresh and does remind me of an old-world Sauv Blanc. Decent finish and definitely a value buy. A serious wine, though simple.
What a lovely Kabinett en Magnum. Served a bit warmer than I'd have liked but did not detract from the inherent quality of this quintessentially Mosel Riesling. The aromatics were stunning while the palate was laced with acidic tension lining the ripe fruit. Excellent juice and definitely a benchmark for a Kabinett.
Quintessentially Prüm rather than Mosel. This still had traces of sulfur on the nose and a rather soft palate bordering on flabby. Racy is a term I would not use here. This probably needs time to blossom as per other examples chez Prüm but at the moment, not really delicious at all.
No doubt an excellent Meursault villages but I've been drinking many great examples of Meursault villages that this does seem to somewhat pale in comparison. However, this definitely remains true to the terroir with the palate entry especially memorable. Rich, honeyed yet with sufficient acidity and minerality. A modest wine.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Piercing acidity despite the vintage. This was unmistakably Puligny on the nose. Exciting with sheer presence. Not made in a weighty style and does remind me somewhat of a Chevalier-Montrachet with excellent precision.
A Chablis made in a big, ripe, powerhouse style representative of the vintage. Despite that, there's still a good core of saline minerality, perhaps as a nod towards the quality of the vineyard.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Lovely dark-fruited nose. Plummy on the palate and still quite harsh tannins at the moment. You definitely get the stems influence here, sufficient to be distracting for me. Nonetheless, quite an honest wine and quite delicious.
Feminine (pretty floral aromas, silky tannins, medium-weight) yet tough (structured, robust intensity, unyielding). Don't think I did this wine justice so shall refrain from rating.
Technically probably not a strong example chez Baron but I adore the classic elegant and gently austere style manifested from the vintage. Gulp-able and modest.

A bit disappointed by this. Light and almost flavor-less. Kinda steely and the acidity just took centrestage.
