Flight 1 - Apperitif (2 Notes)

  • 2009 Dr. Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Kabinett 82 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

    Alcohol :: 7.5%
    2nd Magnum. A.P. 2.576.162.12.10. A rather high tone and less expressive nose with caramel, green herbs, eucalyptus and lime. This has sweet entry with mangoes sweetness that goes on with mineral finish, though well balance this is simple and one dimensional.

    p/s: The person who tasted from the 1st magnum mentioned that was fresher and better.

  • 2008 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett 83 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

    Alcohol :: 8%
    A.P. 2 576 511 17 09. This has better focus compared to the Loosen with mango, grape fruits and little touch of mineral. Very good tension on the entry and mid palate but fan out a bit simple with some grippy acidity, ripe lemon, mineral that come with with grape fruits. Friendly finish that lack of complexity nor excitement.

Flight 2 - Blanc (2 Notes)

  • 1999 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon

    France, Champagne

    Popped and poured. The 1st bottle was showing quite well with loads of energy and flavors. Nose was a bit tight, white floral, chalky mineral, ripe lemon, pear with a little touch of yeastiness. The palate was bright and refreshing, powerful entry, a bit sharp but rounded up on the mid palate and flow to the medium length finish. Not bad but this was a but lack of definition and focus.

    2nd bottle: Very very tight, nose almost completely muted. The acidity was strong on the entry and a bit sharp. Structured dominated the palate and hard to assess. Need time and while not as expressive than the 1st bottle, this actually fresher and have better definition and focus.

  • 2009 Michel Colin-Deléger et Fils Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Demoiselles 88 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru

    Wow! This grab my attention for the very first snip. Very focus and perfume, with intense mineral core that surrounded by an array of green apple, citrus as well as some cold herbs and white floral. Lifted but not showy. The palate is full of ripe citrus, pear and melon that underpinned but the mouth watering acidity and soft mineral. This doesn't has the scale and complexity of a top 1er cru but the elegance, refreshing mouth feel and wonderful balance, focus and energy is really enticing. Juicy, medium length finish with mineral that lingered. Very good! 88-89+

Flight 3 - Rouge (3 Notes)

  • 1989 Château Canon

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

    Matured on both nose and palate with dried dark fruits, earth and leather that went on to the palate that's very smooth but come a bit lean and straightforward, to the slightly dry finish with dried plum. Again, I wasn't impress by the 89 Canon and this showed that it is on it's way down. Drink up.

  • 2007 Dominio Pingus Ribera del Duero Flor de Pingus 87 Points

    Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero

    Dark purplish color that boosted with soft, complex aromas of butterscotch, dark plum, fig with perfume dark floral and milk chocolate note with a touch of coconut candy that is highly focus and deep. I heard that the Flor du Pingus is a very good wine, while not sure if the quality is tally with the price tag, this is indeed a lovely wine that show impeccable balance and harmony as with this age, this is well integrated, rounded and polish with underlying richness and power. Definitely young, but no problem to approach it now, just become a bit tight at the end of the finish but with a better grip. Juicy, dark chocolate, coffee, butterscotch, little touch of spices, medium length finish. 87-89

  • 1999 Gaja Langhe Nebbiolo Costa Russi 91 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC

    Nose was kinda muted, only giving away of dried rose petal, tar and touch of earth and red fruits. It was very calm on te palate that would put everyone who tasted it into contemplation, this was so smooth and soft with intensity instead of power, with every elements as well as tannin well integrated that flirt with perfect sense of harmonious and elegance. The complex flavors is hard to dissect and there is this fragrance inner perfume that fill the mouth with grace. The long, lingering finish with great detail that linger with dried rose petal, plum, haw flakes and mineral. This is a Zen wine, my very first Zen like Barolo. Well done!
