Lush fruit on nose with lots and lots of ak that will need a couple of years to integrate. Apple on nose, then candied apple and peach on palate. Good acidity and minerality provide energy and texture, despite the simple fruit on finish.

Young vine Barolo. Forward red and black fruit, drinking very easily today. Not much tannic structure, moderate acidity. Good flavors through middle, then short finish.
Floral hints already starting to show behind bright red fruit. A bit of spice that was charming, even if a bit uncharacteristically Barolo. Long, lean finish with lots of texture and "pop" at the end. This should be a really good value Barolo to drink 5-10 years from now.

I think I had an ever-so-slight preference for Cicala.

Nice leather element emerging on finish. I would give this wine an ever-so-slight nod over the Colonello, but would really like to revisit this side-by-side comparison around 2025.

Mostly thin and faded aromas to start, some interesting mushroom came out with more time in glass. Reduced mushroom flavors on palate with hints of red fruit and cocoa. Seemed quite a bit older than the 1989 Colonello tasted alongside, Franco Conterno thought it an imperfect bottle, though not flawed.
