An opportunity to open all 5 Leroy 04 at the same time. Most of us agree the Chambolle and NSG are showing better tonight, Bourgogne is aging fast. We are wondering how could AM gave a score of 95 to the VR? Perhaps he drank it at the peak back in 05 and the bottles been declining since? Not sure but consensus is that the Gevrey, VR and Bourgogne need to be consumed soon.
04 is good as expected, while the 03 is much better than we thought!
2003 Domaine d'Auvenay (Lalou Bize-Leroy) Auxey-Duresses Blanc 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Auxey-Duresses
Much better showing than the last bottle from another source. Trademark nutty and roasted corn nose, nice citrus fruit. As one taster noted this bottle is remarkably restrained for a 03, full but well delineated palate, nice acidity lift at the end. Drinking very well and will hold this way for well stored bottles.

2004 Domaine d'Auvenay (Lalou Bize-Leroy) Auxey-Duresses Blanc 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Auxey-Duresses
Compared with the 03 side by side, this showed additional freshness, leaner and more acidic at the end. The same awesome roasted nuts and popcorn nose. But overall a well balanced wine, and this bottle is fresher than the last and needs more time like another year to fully flesh out, awespiring Auxey blanc!
