  From a 375ml - I found this to be an excellent Moscato. It had a lovely nose, full of white flowers, white musk, some peach, nectar and morning dew. Very freshly pretty with a flowery musk feel to it. The palate was very good too. Fresh, lively, with a gummy white-fruity sweetness laced with gentle fizz and fresh acidity. Very delicious, and nicely weighted enough to pair with nicely with a razor-clam and mentaiko dish. The finish rounded the wine off nicely, with the littlest hints of minerality creeping around a peachy, flowery linger. Very enjoyable.

• 2006 Bouchard Père et Fils Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières 93 Points

  From another 375ml. This was still young, still tight, perhaps even more so than upon release, but boy it was good. There was a beautiful Meursault nose here, with drips of unsalted butter, ripe lemon scents, pears and apples, a gentle pat of earth and some lovely minerally aromas. The palate was not quite as expressive but was nevertheless beautiful in its own way. It was big, rich, almost oily textured in its white fruit, lemon and creamy-butter expressions, and yet never less than perfectly balanced and focused. The long finish was full of character as well, filling the back-palate with bittersweet notes of almond oil, spice and a strong pull of wet, stony mineral. With time, some slightly saline notes started curling out. A wonderful constructed wine, where mouth-filling power was wed to lovely poise and a chiselled structure. It worked well with Aburi Sushi now, especially with fattier fish like salmon belly or hamachi, but this really deserves at least five more years in the cellar at least.
