Explosive nose of melon, pineapple, nectarine, wax, becoming almost pina colada with being offensive. Luscious, almost frizzante, with decent acid. I was prepared not to like this very much but I started to fall in love.
Smoky, earthy, burnt soil nose. Cloudy brown with lots of dead leaves, cooked vegetables, subtle cinnamon savory spice. Is this going to blossom with a little air? NOPE.
Green tomato stem, leafy green pepper nose with some peppercorn. This could go either way...faint Cabernet fruit on the flaccid palate, I don't see much to admire here.
Orangish brown, cooked vegetable, wood, nut, slightly oxidized nose. Cooked cherries, slight vegetable, caramel palate with decent acidity. Pretty interesting, still alive, and totally drinkable, a testament to the longevity of Tempranillo.
Amazingly dark, bay leaf, capsicum, mint, campfire nose that is fresh and lifted. Some dark fruit and toasted brown sugar on the palate. Really quite good!
Sweet coconut American oak, candy pineapple, wood, licorice nose sets me up for a typical Pesquera experience but the palate just seems to dry up and become astringent without showing much fruit. Can't figure this one out.
Weird, beguiling, herbal, fish, fresh sauna wood nose. Piercing, almost effervescent palate with a sweet attack that turns terribly bitter and disgusts on the finish. Ugh.
2004 Olivier Leflaive Chassagne-Montrachet 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
Steely, slatey, waxy, mineral lemons. Good acid, verve, dollop of oak becomes apparent. Admirable concentration, wow!

Dark fruit, soapy, linear. Still quite alive, but seems to have shed everything of interest.

1977 Taylor (Fladgate) Porto Vintage
Portugal, Douro, Porto
Awkward, shrill, nose hair singing spirit aromatics. Succulent, silky, berry palate begins to make up for this. Hmm.

Tropical, plastic, banana nose. Sweet and a bit boozy, but very concentrated. Pretty good.
