• 2004 Finca Allende Rioja Aurus 95 Points

  Spain, La Rioja, Rioja

  favorite wine of the evening. Lots of character here. Still very youthful.
  deep purple/ garnet color. Nose is widely varied with plums, apricots, berry fruit, and later on, old leather furniture.
  Mouthfeel is full, meaty, very smooth. Abundant tannins.

  Oaky, muted fruit on the nose. Fruity and somewhat tart. mild tannins. enjoyable, but nothing special.

  Way too young to be fully appreciated, but I really liked this. Inky dark, youthful appearance. Tons of oak but decent fruit. Highly tannic. Would love to drink this again in 10 years.

  Dark purple, no hint of age on appearance. Smells of meat/gravy/beef stew, leather, and a dark fruit component as well. Thinner/ more elegant on the palate than I expected. . leather, dark berry fruit. Medium tannins. Quite pleasant.
