Introduction

Nice set of wines. What I've tasted from this vintage impresses me as pretty typical and thankfully, not over the top.

  • 2008 Château La Rose Tour Blanche

    France, Bordeaux

    Light to medium color. Graphite, cedar and flowers. Light bodied, green, fairly tart and short. Cheap and tastes that way.

  • 2008 Château Louvie

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

    Medium depth. Ripe, earthy nose. Nice dark cherry fruit and sap but prominent woody base. Moderately tannic, medium length finish.

  • 2008 Château Gloria

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien

    Medium ruby. Classic graphite nose. Ripe black cherry with a good dark core. Good feel, long dry finish.

  • 2008 Château Ormes de Pez

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

    Dark color. Fragrant, sweaty aromatics. Big, concentrated wine with a syrupy entry but a nicely austere, dry finish. Pretty good, strapping St. Estephe.

  • 2008 Château Grand Mayne

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

    Deepest, thickest looking wine of the bunch. Attractive mint and herbs. Lacier, more lively feel than the preceding wines with sound acidity. Drier finish than entry. This is excellent.

  • 2008 Château Lynch-Bages

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Quite dark but not as saturated as the Grand Mayne. Chocolate, green olive and mint. Nice, lush, balanced feel with black fruit, terrific acidity and good structure at the end. Completely clean, really good.
