  • 2009 Esser Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 85 Points

    USA, California

    Medium(+) purple, slow moving legs, narrow rim. Medium nose, developing aromas of blackcurrant, black pepper, oak. Dry, medium(-) acidity, medium(-) tannins, medium alcohol, medium(+) aromas of blackcurrant and spice. Smooth texture, well balanced medium finish, good quality yet simple.

  • 2009 Erath Pinot Noir Oregon 84 Points

    USA, Oregon

    Medium(-) purple, turning garnet at edge, narrow fast legs. Medium developing aromas of red fruits, cherries, strawberries, earth notes. Dry, medium(+) acidity, low tannins, medium alcohol, light body, medium(-) aromas of red fruits, short finish and not well balanced. Despite the nice nose this wine fails to deliver on the palate, lacks fruit aromas and structure, tends to the insipid.

    Medium(+) garnet, ruby rim, wide thick legs. Medium developing aromas of red fruits, leather, cedar, oak, smoke, spice; i.e. good degree of complexity. Dry, medium acidity, medium(-) tannins, high alcohol, medium(+) body with aromas of red cherries, smoke, liquorice, neat complex palate. Medium(+) finish. A surprisingly pleasant wine.
