  Far too sweet for my taste. Almost undrinkable.... How can so much sugar actualy dissolve?

• 1966 Domaine de Chevalier 91 Points

  Perfect bottle in perfect case. Level base of neck, orginal cork came out in one piece. not a top wine, but lovers of classical Bordeaux will admire this one. Will not get any better and will probaby be long gone from less than perfect provenance, but quite pleasing.

• 1975 Château Léoville Las Cases 93 Points

  Popped and poured American style at the end of a evening with Cos 85+86, Talbot 1986 and Domaine de Chevalier 1966. At first very, very sweet, a bit tired, old and one dimensional. After one hour, wine became fuller, darker, multi layered and developed into a very beautiful classic Bordeaux. Age shows on the rim, nose with 2nd and 3rd stage characteristics like cedar, mushrooms, tobacco, spicy herbs, eucalyptus, licorice, leather, meat, blood, but still some ripe fruits like plums, raspberry and strawberry. Amazing how old Bordeaux wines from good breed slowly get their act together and get younger by the minute. After two hours young, vital feshness returmed and told us that well stored bottles will easily last for 10+ years.
