Translucent ruby color. Sweet red cherry aromas supported by noticeable but unobtrusive oak that presents as a vanilla/pine resin note, plus some spiciness from the stems. Medium bodied, with smooth, slightly darker fruit on the palate and a touch of iron. The acid comes through on the finish, and the tannin is just a bit raspy. It's quite pure but there's not a ton of depth and the structure underlying the fruit is a bit hard.

Deep ruby color. Dark cherry fruit, with a slight plummy aspect, and here the stems add an earthy/leafy character. There are also almost syrah-like strong meaty/peppery notes, although the fruit character is clearly pinot. This is slightly softer and sweeter than the Chambolle, with a slight floral flavor playing off the meaty/pepper elements behind the fruit. There's tannin here but it's well-buffered and smooth, and there's more depth to the fruit. Very complex for a village wine.

Here the nose is deeper and more intense, showing dark cherry fruit and iron earthiness, with the stems and oak farther in the background; there's also a distinct citrusy grapefruit note. The fruit is richer here, and there's more oak and tannin, but the tannin is very refined and silky and the wood is not overdone. There's enough acid to keep it balanced but this is not a shrill, racy style. The wine is expansive but not heavy and I feel like it needs some time to fully flesh out. Intense fruit/iron finish. Very good if too young, although it drinks well now.
