  • 2006 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

    Alcohol ::
    Pale yellow. Opened for 1.5hrs. wow, such seductive nose of white floral scents, mild herbs, light spiciness and buttery along with savory and nuttiness that accompany by green apple, lemon and melon. Lightly buttery at the entry, with creamy mouth feel that turn to drier, very clean and pure on the mid palate with good depth, sappiness and freshness. The intensity is so high that the fore tongue is a little bit numb with very clean acidic backbone and goes on to the finished with great sense of harmony, white floral perfume, spicy and creamy butter aftertaste. Very good! Martray always deliver. 92-93+

  • 1989 Château Palmer 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

    Alcohol :: 12%
    Popped and poured. Garnet core with brown rim. Very soft and perfume, deep but not powerful. The fragrance of dried floral slowly soared from the glass and display cedar, vanilla, sweet cassis and blueberry fruits, autumn leaves, herbs and mild spiciness. Lovely silky entry that bring out the lush mouth feel with incredible intensity that coated the palate with care instead of powerful punch. Beautiful concentration of sweet dark fruits intermixed with roasted herbs, spices and perfume floral all wrapped together with the low-med level of silky tannin in an absolutely elegant texture. So focus and precise, though the scale is smaller than the Margaux 1996, the sense of finesse, elegance and class is similar. I especially like the soft liquid mineral, mild spiciness that exist from the entry till the finish which made this wine so juicy and sappy. The finished is long and delicate, with good purity. Very good!

  • 1996 Château Margaux 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

    Alcohol :: 12.5%
    Deep ruby core with garnet hue. Oh my, is this a perfume? The aromas is heavenly, absolutely fantastic and seductive. Highly complex, perfume and intense aromas of cedar, cigar box, tobacco, graphite intermixed perfectly with blackberry, creme de cassis, mint and violet. With more air, pain grille note emerged. Such lushness, freshness on this wonderfully balance and delineated Margaux with haunting inner perfume of floral and sweet dark fruits that filled up the mouth immediately after the first sip. Everything is in place, harmony! Excellent drive, incredible intensity yet so weightless, endless layer of succulent dark fruits, savory meatiness, cigar box, roasted herbs and secondary nuanced of earthiness all integrated into the firm but polished structure, along with the medium level of silkiest tannin for the lush, elegant mouth feel that finished off with superb length that lingering with juicy mineral, sweet dark fruits aftertaste. Long life ahead with great upside potential. Incredible! 95-97

  • 1998 Château La Mission Haut-Brion 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    Alcohol :: 13%
    Decanted for 60mins. It was tight and not showing at first, but after 60mins of decanting, it started to open up and showed better and better. Similar to the previous bottle, this is a stunning LMHB with finesse and great purity. The nose is complex and powerful, gravel, cedar, cigar box, tobacco with savory meatiness, leather and spicy sweet dark fruits that sum up the attractive aromas profile. Very fresh and intense, with tons of juicy sweet plum and currant fruits on the entry that continue to bring out deeper layer of savory, mineral, gravel and spice box. This is not as voluptuous as the previous bottle but still very powerful and deep. The tannin is high but well polished and integrated that provide so much grip to the palate. I especially like the liquid like mineral at the back end along with the powerful, intensely long finish that linger with spices with great focus and finesse. Lovely. 94-95+
